Sam Harris II

Founder & Managing Partner

Sam is Founder and Managing Partner of Bluewater Wealth Advisors. Sam began his professional career during some of the most turbulent times within the financial services industry.  Portfolio management is one of his greatest strengths, stemming from his prior experience as an equity and fixed income portfolio manager.  His understanding of the intricacies of multi-generational asset planning from his own life experiences helps him to share viewpoints from the same side of the table as his clients.

In overseeing the investments and operations of Bluewater Wealth Advisors, Sam’s role includes monitoring the firm’s portfolio, ensuring transparency within the firm’s accounting and reporting. He also leverages his past experiences within the ultra-high net worth space to articulate the firm’s goals and objectives to both clients and their families.

Prior to founding Bluewater Wealth Advisors, Sam served as Portfolio Manager at Oakworth Capital Bank, where he worked closely with the Founders and Managing Partners for nearly four years. Within this role, Sam not only monitored daily the +$2B AUM book of business, tracking cash movements and market shifts, but he also sat on the firm’s Investment Committee and implemented the firm’s portfolio management system, SS&C’s Black Diamond, for both internal stakeholders and clients.  Sam had an integral role in the evolution of the firm’s ultra-high net worth group, which focuses on clients with +$25MM investable assets.

A born and bred Southerner, entrepreneurship through asset management runs in Sam’s blood. Both his paternal and maternal great-grandparents started local community banks in the state of Alabama.  Both banks remain in operation today. In addition to financial services, Sam still owns and operates a 200-year-old row crop and cattle farm in Huntsville, AL.  Sam loves cheering on his Auburn Tigers in all athletic events while also deciphering the latest trends in bourbon and all things brown water.
